Tuesday night, a Waukesha police officer was responding to call without his lights or siren when he hit a 17-year-old bicyclist. The Journal Sentinel reports that the accident happened on Highway 164 and Lincoln Avenue.

The boy was life-flighted to the hospital with serious injuries. Police report that his condition has stabilized, though. According to The Journal Sentinel, “The officer, in his second year with the Waukesha Police Department,…used CPR on the youth until the Waukesha Fire Department responded.”

The accident is still being investigated. Police believe that two teenagers, who were wearing dark clothing, crossed the street in front of the officer as he was responding to the call.

Police are not currently releasing the identity of either the officer or the boy.
