Authorities are saying that a woman was driving seven children when their van was struck by another vehicle and thrown into a ditch. The driver, a 70-year-old woman from Illinois, and all seven of the children were injured.

The male driver of the other vehicle, a green Jeep, fled the scene. According to Channel3000.com, “[The vehicle] exit[ed] on nearby Highway 51 toward Stoughton, authorities said.” Police are still searching for him. Witnesses report he was wearing a yellow polo shirt at the time of the accident.

The accident is still under investigation. All eight of the injured had non-life threatening injuries.
