Alcohol blamed for two car accident

Posted on Tuesday, December 27th, 2011 at 9:00 pm

A two car accident that happened over the weekend near Warrens is suspected to have been caused by a drunk driver.

A 54 year-old driver was unable to avoid a collision when a 44 year-old woman, who is believed to have been drinking, pulled out in front of her from a parking lot near Highway 12 and Highway EW. The 54 year-old was taken to Tomah Memorial with minor injuries and the 44 year-old is currently in Gundersen Lutheran Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her passenger was not hurt.

The crash is still under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Task force works to stop drunk Packers fans from driving

Posted on Monday, December 19th, 2011 at 8:59 pm

A Brown County task force is preparing for the big Packers divisional playoff game next month to stop impaired drivers on the road. A $96,000 grant funds the program, which nabbed 103 people drunk driving between February and September.

The task force will be on patrol for four hours after the game and will return if Green Bay makes it to the NFC Championships. In a trial run of post-game patrol, officers issued six citations to drivers following the Packers-Raiders game earlier this month.

Football fans at the game will only be able to purchase two alcoholic drinks at a time and last call is at the start of the third quarter. Green Bay Metro is offering free bus rides and the team also funds a designated driver program.

Crash claims two lives on Hwy 26

Posted on Wednesday, December 14th, 2011 at 5:25 pm

A fatal accident that occurred on Saturday night claimed the lives of a 39 year-old man and a 22 year-old woman in Waupun.

Both were traveling on Highway 26 when the head-on collision occurred. The man was driving northbound when he lost control of his car on a curve and hit another vehicle in the southbound lane. A 23 year-old passenger in the other car was taken to University Hospital in Madison and is currently listed in critical condition.

Highway 26 sees heavy traffic of people traveling between Madison and Green Bay. Just two weeks ago another serious accident occurred near the crash site that involved two pickup trucks and a semi.

Our deepest sympathies are with the friends and families of the two victims.

Subaru and Honda issue recalls due to brake defects

Posted on Tuesday, December 6th, 2011 at 5:48 pm

Three Subaru models and one Honda motorcycle model are the subject of the automakers most recent recall.

About 32,000 models of Subaru’s 2012 Outbacks, Legacies, and Imprezas are being recalled due to a problem with the brake master cylinder. Over a hundred complaints have been filed against Subaru about a brake pedal that shifts down further than expected, causing drivers to misjudge how much pressure to apply when stopping.

126,000 Honda GL-1800 motorcycles made between 2001-2012 are being recalled for a rear brake defect. The brake could drag on the ground, causing a fire or resulting in a crash. Twenty six complaints have been issued, two have resulted in a fire.

Subaru and Honda reassure their customers that not all models of the same years have these brake problems. Owners can take their vehicles to a dealership for inspection.

If you or someone you love suffered injuries in an auto accident because of brake problems, contact the Lake Geneva brake defects lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C. today by calling 800-242-2874.
