Posted on Thursday, February 23rd, 2012 at 8:07 pm

Two people were killed over the weekend in Wisconsin in unrelated snowmobile accidents that occurred on Beaver Dam Lake and in Langland County.

Six people riding snowmobiles on Beaver Dam Lake suddenly plunged into open water Saturday night, sending at least five to the hospital. A 45 year-old man who fell into the freezing water later died.

Police cruisers recalled for electrical problems

Posted on Thursday, February 16th, 2012 at 7:49 pm

Potential electrical problems have prompted Chrysler Group, LLC to recall nearly 10,000 police Dodge Chargers.

The 2011 and 2012 Dodge Charger models are the subject of the recall. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, overheating problems in the bulb harness connector could cause problems in the vehicles’ low beam headlights. Overheating in the power distribution module could cause a loss of anti-lock break and electric stability control functions.

No accidents have been reported in relation to the defects. Chrysler will begin the recall in March and will repair the vehicles free of charge.

Florida pileup claims 11 lives

Posted on Friday, February 3rd, 2012 at 11:42 pm

Another victim found inside of a burned pickup truck has brought the death toll of the massive car pileup in Florida to 11.

In the early morning hours on Sunday, at least a dozen cars, six tractor-trailers, and a motor home collided on Interstate 75. Florida Highway Patrol previously shut down the highway after dense fog and smoke from brush fires significantly lowered visibility.

Witnesses say they saw cars getting struck multiple times and bursting into flames. Investigators have enlisted anthropologists from the University of Florida to help identify the deceased. So far only eight victims have been identified.

Our deepest sympathies are with the families and friends of those affected by this horrific accident.
