Driver error at fault in single-vehicle crash

Police have determined that an accident involving alleged brake failure in a Toyota Camry was caused by driver error. Due to the recent nationwide Toyota recalls, it was at first plausible that the single-vehicle crash wherein a 76-year-old woman drove into a wall at the Sheboygan Falls YMCA last week was caused by mechanical car failure.

Surveillance video at the scene has surfaced that shows the woman driving her vehicle into the side of the building at a steady rate of speed with no visible attempt to apply the brakes, as she had claimed.

“We are still waiting — and I stress this is not a final conclusion — but up ’til this point I feel comfortable saying our belief right now is that this is an operator issue,” Sheboygan Falls Public Safety Chief Steven Riffel said.

Luckily nobody else was injured by this elderly driver. This kind of driving can leave people seriously injured and property destroyed.
