Wisconsin state trooper dies in drunk driving accident

A Wisconisin State Trooper was killed in a two-vehicle crash while on his way to assist another officer with an arrest last Sunday, according to police.

The 29-year-old officer was driving westbound on Highway 47 when a pickup truck pulled in front of him from a side road at 8:38 p.m. He crashed into the truck, dying instantly.

Witnesses say that the truck driver did not have his car lights on. The 49-year-old driver of the truck was taken to a nearby hospital for local treatment where he was later arrested on suspicion of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.

The arresting officer reported the driver’s blood alcohol level at 0.192, twice the legal limit.

The drunk driving accident has shocked officials and locals in the town. The officer leaves behind his wife of two years, a sister, and both his parents.
