Kenosha police review pedestrian accident

After reports of a wrongful death suit to be filed against the driver that killed 15-year old Michelina “Micki” Combs in June, Kenosha Police Department officials are reviewing the fatal pedestrian accident.

Around 9 PM on June 17th, 42-year old Denise Heckler was driving on County Highway N in Paris when she struck Combs who was walking along the side of the highway.  Heckler alleged that she was unable to see Combs because it was dark outside and she had just come over a hill.  She told police that she tried to avoid her but it was too late.

Heckler admitted to police on the night of the accident that she had been drinking earlier in the evening.  She claims to have had 5 wine coolers between 4 and 6:30 PM, but only water after that.  Police did not take a blood sample from Heckler until a couple hours after the accident and results showed a blood alcohol content lower than the legal limit.
