Three hurt in drunk wrong-way accident

Three people were injured last week, one seriously, after a drunk driver traveling the wrong way struck a car head-on. The accident happened Wednesday night in Appleton on Highway 41 near County Highway BB.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries in the accident. The passenger in the car that was hit sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown from Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah to Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee, according to officials at the Wisconsin State Patrol.

The drunk driver fled from the scene before police arrived. Found and arrested soon after the accident, the 33 year-old has been charged with drunk driving, hit-and-run causing great bodily harm, and driving without a license causing great bodily harm.
