April named National Distracted Driving Awareness month

This month has been designated as the National Distracted Driving Awareness month by the U.S. Department of Transportation to warn drivers of the dangers of cellphone use while driving.

In Wisconsin, two laws have already been passed to help curb distracted driving. Texting is banned for all drivers all over the state; and starting November 1st, new drivers will be banned from all cellphone use, whether the device is handheld or hands-free.

A new federal law went into effect in January that banned all commercial drivers from using handheld cellphones. Violators could be fined up to $2,750 per offense and companies could face a $11,000 penalty.

If you or someone you love has been injured by a distracted driver, contact the reckless driving lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C. by calling 800-242-2874.
