Man sues county for cruiser-moped accident

A Wisconsin Rapids man who was injured on his moped after a deputy’s cruiser hit him last October is suing the deputy, Wood County, the Sheriff’s Department, and their insurance companies for the accident.

The 38 year-old is seeking compensation for pain and suffering, loss income, possible permanent disability, and medical expenses. According to the police report, the man was making a left turn on his moped when the deputy, who was looking at his phone, struck him.

The moped driver was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries, and the deputy was cited for inattentive driving.
