Hit-and-run driver arrested for injurying woman, killing service dog

A hit-and-run driver who struck a woman and her service dog last week has been arrested by Waukesha police. The 29 year-old Milwaukee man was charged with felony hit-and-run causing bodily harm for the accident.

According to the Journal Sentinel, the woman and her golden retriever were crossing at a crosswalk when an SUV suddenly drove through the intersection and hit them both. Her dog was killed and she suffered a broken foot.

Witnesses’ descriptions helped authorities find the car by the next day. The driver admitted to being involved in the accident but claims he was not aware he hit a dog.
