Local motorcyclist’s killer pleads guilty

An Illinois man has pleaded guilty to being behind the wheel in a fatal accident that claimed the life of a local motorcyclist. The Round Lake Beach man will be sentenced in August for charges of aggravated DUI resulting in death and two counts of aggravated DUI.

According to the Lake County Sun-Times, the driver had been watching a soccer game and was leaving the field when he collided with the 56 year-old motorcyclist. He also injured two people when he hit another vehicle.

Police found empty beer cans and a bottle of tequila in the car. A breathalyzer test put his blood alcohol content at more than three times the legal limit. He faces a maximum of 26 years in prison.
