Teen leads police on drunk driving chase

A teenager from Fond du Lac led police on a car chase Monday evening with three young children in the backseat. The 19-year-old fled the scene of a car accident and was pulled over by officers on Highway 145, the Menomonee Falls Patch reports.

The driver drove away when an officer approached his window, prompting the chase. He eventually lost control of the car and hit a fence. Authorities pursued him on foot with the help of K-9 units. The three children in the car, ages 5, 4, and 3, were not injured.

Police found a stolen purse and two open cans of beer in the vehicle. The teen later failed a field sobriety test and was charged with OWI. He is currently facing three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, drunk driving with minors in the car, one count of attempting to flee an officer, one count of obstructing an officer, and bail jumping.
