Portgage woman charged in fatal drunk driving accident

Twenty-three-year-old Hanna Schacht, formerly of Woodstock, Wisconsin and now residing in Portgage, was been charged with homicide by drunk driving on Monday, September 16. The charges are a result of a crash that occurred around 10:20 a.m. on Sunday, September 15 and resulted in the death of 51-year-old Lanark resident Richard Wetzel.

Police told The Northwest Herald that Schacht was driving with a blood alcohol level that was nearly twice the legal limit when Schacht crashed into Wetzel as he was pulling east out of a driveway in the 10000 block of Buelow Road east of Dulske Road in Lanark, east of Stevens Point.

In 2012, Schacht was charged with failing to report an accident after she caused the death of a drug dealer she and her friend were trying to steal drugs from by causing the man to fall from the roof of her car and hit his head.
