Dunn County drunk driving accident kills one

Twenty-one-year-old Cadott, Wisconsin resident Michael Sonnentag is in police custody for driving while intoxicated, causing a fatal accident, and leaving the scene, CBS Minnesota reported on October 13.

The accident resulted in the death of two people and the injury of six others in western Wisconsin.

The collision occurred at around 2:40 a.m. on westbound Interstate 94 in Dunn County near the city of Elk Mound between Eau Claire and Menomonie. According to preliminary investigations, Sonnentag’s car collided with a van, which then flipped over and fell into a ditch. Eight people were inside the van. Two died at the scene of the accident, while the other six sustained minor injuries. The two who were killed were not wearing seat belts at the time and were thrown from the van.

Sonnentag’s vehicle was found empty by the police somewhere else, and they discovered him walking nearby.

The attorneys at Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® know all too well the dangers of intoxicated driving, and we offer our thoughts and condolences to the friends and family suffering during this time.
