Wrong-way drunk driver caused fatal accident in Kenosha

Twenty-nine-year-old Lake Geneva, Wisconsin resident Michael Reese, along with his father, 52-year-old Paul Reese, Jr., also of Lake Geneva, died in a vehicular accident that occurred in Kenosha around 6 p.m. on December 6, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

The accident occurred on the 34500 block of Highway 50 near Highway 83. According to preliminary investigations made by the police, Paul Reese was driving a vehicle when it was struck by 36-year-old Lindenhurst, Illinois resident Brian Smith, who was intoxicated and operating his vehicle along the wrong side of the road.

Michael died at the scene of the drunk driving accident, while Paul succumbed to his injuries at Aurora Memorial Hospital in Burlington.

Smith, on the other hand, was transported to the Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa to treat his critical injuries. He was charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle and first offense drunken driving, as well as driving the wrong way on a divided highway.
