Double-collision crash in Wheatland hurts two

Two individuals were wounded in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 50 east of Highway 83 in Wheatland in Kenosha County, Wisconsin on January 8 at around 2:36 p.m., Kenosha News reported.

According to a police report from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, 17-year-old Lake Geneva resident Miranda Rae Rubin had been driving a vehicle east along the highway when she tried to overtake the vehicle in front of her because it was not going very fast.

Durbin switched lanes without checking the left lane and so collided with the vehicle behind her. After this first collision, Durbin’s vehicle swerved further left, resulting in an additional crash. She was taken to a local hospital, along with a passenger from the first vehicle contact–16-year-old Makayla Steadman, for treatment of their injuries. Fortunately, none of those involved were critically injured.
