Mother using Facebook while driving charged with three felony offenses

Thirty-four-year-old Centuria, Wisconsin resident Kari Jo Milberg was recently charged with three felony offenses in relation to a fatal distracted driving accident in 2013.

Milberg was charged on Friday, February 27 with three felony counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle and one count of misdemeanor reckless driving causing bodily harm in Pierce County Circuit Court. Police investigation showed Milberg had been using Facebook Chat while driving on Dec. 12, 2013 in Oak Grove in northwestern Wisconsin, when she lost control of her vehicle and was struck by a truck in the opposing lane. The accident resulted in the death of Milberg’s daughter, 11-year-old Lydia; and her nieces, five-year-old Clara Pavek and Laynie Jo Amos.
