Lake Geneva woman killed in four-vehicle accident

A 27-year-old woman from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin died on June 13 in a multi-vehicle accident involving a semi-truck and a suspected intoxicated driver, according to the Beloit Daily News.

The accident occurred at around 11:30 p.m. According to a press release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Wisconsin State Patrol Southwest Region De Forest Post, a Ford Taurus operated by 20-year-old Janesville resident Mackenzi Adams suddenly struck a median guardrail at mile post 185 on Interstate 90/39.

When a Volkswagen Jetta and a Dodge Caravan parked along the highway to help Adams, a CR England semi crashed into the Ford Taurus, causing it to strike the two cars whose occupants planned on assisting Adams.

The front seat passenger of the Jetta died as a result of the collision, while the vehicle’s three other occupants – the 29-year-old male driver and two kids aged six and nine – were brought to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville for the treatment of serious injuries. The three occupants of the Dodge Caravan also sustained injuries.

Both lanes of the interstate highway were closed for over two hours while maintenance crews cleared the area and local police conducted their investigation. Adams was arrested due to suspicion of intoxication, and she will face charges related to the Lake Geneva woman’s death.
