School bus collides with dump truck, injuring three

Two students are now back in school after being injured during a collision between a school bus and a dump truck on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at around 6:57 a.m. in Dane County, Wisconsin.

According to preliminary investigations, 63-year-old Poynette resident and school bus driver Linda Sparocio was headed south on Fellows Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign at a County V intersection, causing the collision with the dump truck operated by 21-year-old Dane resident Dalton Ziegler, who was headed east on County V and tried to hit the brakes to avoid a crash.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office, along with Lodi and Waunakee emergency medical services responded to the scene of the accident. Sparocio and the two students aboard the school bus were all sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

Sparocio will be given a citation for failure to stop at a stop sign.
