3 injured in SUV/U-Haul accident

A car accident involving an SUV and a U-Haul truck resulted in three people in the hospital, with one individual in critical condition. The accident occurred on a Saturday, March 19th, shortly before 12:30pm, in the town of Lyons.

When officials arrived at the scene, they were able to determine that the SUV crossed the double yellow lines and struck the U-Haul truck driving on the other side. The SUV was heading westbound on Highway 36 and was being driven by 70-year-old Philip Carney, a resident of Lake Geneva. Carney was critically injured and transported to the hospital by Flight for Life.

Carney’s wife, age 69, suffered from minor injuries as a passenger in the SUV. The U-Haul driver, 52-year-old Donald Watkins, also sustained minor injuries in the wreck. Both were admitted to the hospital for treatment.
